Strapping: an essential step to protect your boxes during transport
When it comes to industrial transport, packaging strength alone is not enough. To ensure your products arrive at their destination in perfect condition, it is essential that the boxes are properly strapped.
When it comes to industrial transport, packaging strength alone is not enough.
To ensure your products arrive at their destination in perfect condition, it is essential that the boxes are properly strapped.
What is strapping?
Strapping consists of surrounding a foldable box with straps (usually plastic) in order to firmly hold all parts of the box together.
It is a crucial step to:
- Stabilise the box during handling and transport,
- Prevent accidental openings,
- Absorb and distribute shocks,
- Optimise the safety of your goods.

How to strap a box correctly?
Good strapping is based on a few simple rules:
- Use a sufficient number of straps: for a box of 1200x800x800 mm, two to three straps are recommended along the length.
- Position the straps correctly: they should be evenly placed to secure the lid and the sides.
- Tighten properly: not too loose (ineffective), not too tight (risk of damaging the box).
- Check the tension: a properly tensioned plastic strap ensures better security.
